Diet Guidelines For A Healthy Lifestyle
In losing weight, there might be a few rules you will want to adhere to in order to shed the pounds as quickly as possible. In addition, there are a few well known rules you can break as a “short cut” to weight loss. However, breaking some other vital rules may put you at a disadvantage. No matter how great some of these rules may appear on the surface or how much advice you get, there are some of them that should be ignored since using them may be counter productive and produce negative effects for losing weight. Once you can identify which weight loss rules to break, you can key on those and you will have a better chance of losing the weight and keeping it off for a long time.
First:
Certain weight loss tricks used to motivate you simply won’t work. Although having a size 2 pair jeans in your closet might seem like a good idea towards your weight loss goals, for most people, this is just depressing, especially if you’re currently a size 10. If it does not fit get rid of it.
Second:
Stop weighing yourself every day. As you exercise, your body will build muscle mass, which weighs much more than fat.
Third:
Although you should stop eating all of the junk food you every week, it’s probably a better idea to slowly reduce your junk food consumption rather than stop cold turkey. If you are currently drinking a six-pack every night or eating fast food every day, and suddenly stop, you will eventually revert back since you haven’t replaced this with a good healthy plan. Thus, this method won’t last long and when the cravings kick in, you’ll simply be too frustrated to continue with any diet and eat the fast food anyway. Instead, break this rule and reduce your calories and pay attention to what you eat, but allow yourself to have sweets and other indulgences a few times a week, slowly continuing to cut back until you don’t need those foods any longer.
Last:
If your weight loss plan outlines to completely cut out one food group or another, in general, break the rules. For instance, your body needs proteins, even if you are a vegetarian. Your body needs carbohydrates, even if you do go on the Atkins diet. You even need fats, even if you are overweight. All the nutrients in your body have to work together daily to control your body’s functions, and completely removing one link to that chain will create havoc to your entire health. Instead, a good rule is to learn which foods are good for your body and eat in moderation.
Changing Your Lifestyle for the Better
The idea is to not be timid to question about weight loss rules that you come across. It is simply better to do that than to adhere to rules that you’re likely to break or that you don’t understand. Not all rules apply to every individual and some may not work for your particular body. We need to all get educated and find what’s right for our situation and be prepared to make changes and enter into a healthy new lifestyle. Talk to your doctor for more information on rules you should break.
