Stress Relief Through Understanding Burnout
Burnout is a Behavioral term suggestive of cynicism, exhaustion, and ineffectiveness, typically in one’s profession. When we are cynical we distrust the genuineness or decency in others’ actions or motives and we tend to communicate so, directly or indirectly, with contempt and a negative attitude. When we are exhausted we are emotionally, mentally, and physically drained. And when we are cynical and exhausted we become ineffective to our family, our friends, our coworkers, our community, and ourselves.
The most favorable remedy for Burnout is awareness through education. Although, the first step should be to schedule an appointment and visit our Private Medical Doctor so that we may have a physical to make certain that these behaviors are not caused by any medical illnesses.
Cynicism is an attitude. Our attitude is our way of thinking towards life. Therefore, if we think we cannot trust others’ and that their motives are devious our results are going to be negativity, fear, doubt, and worry. On the other hand, if we have the attitude that people are doing the best they can given the knowledge, experience, and awareness they have our results will not be as unpleasant.
Attitude is our point of view and has been developed through our experiences in life. Our attitude is not something we do not have control over. If we wanted to we could adjust our attitude and the best way to do that is to develop faith in life and in others. We can also change our mind-set by looking at the good in life and the blessings that we have. We have family, freedom, friends, employment, housing, and food. Are those not great things to have?
When we are grateful and have a positive attitude we create energy. If we are emotionally, mentally, and physically exhausted we can easily evaluate our energy depleting behaviors and our energy creating behaviors. Some excellent energy producing behaviors are the basic rules of eating right, exercising, and getting plenty of rest. Some energy reducing behaviors are smoking, drinking, and eating processed foods.
We all know this information because it is relentlessly in the media. We can make use of this knowledge that we have and evaluate our energy provoking behaviors. In addition, we can assess our enjoyment activities. Are we doing the things we love to do? If we are, are we enjoying ourselves while we do them? We can make a conscious effort to enjoy ourselves.
We can be more effective to our family, friends, coworkers, community, and ourselves if we consciously create a positive attitude and create energy producing behaviors. We have to take responsibility for ourselves. We have to take responsibility for our thoughts, feelings, and actions and create happiness in our lives because if we don’t, it won’t be done because no one else can do it for us.
