Anti Aging Skin Care Guide: Keep It Simple!

For an anti aging skin care guide, “Keep it simple” is Rule 1. If it’s complicated or takes too much time, almost nobody will stick with it. No need to spend an hour a day in a green mask that makes you look like The Incredible Hulk!

Of course you can buy an effective anti aging skin care treatment. More about that later; but first, some simple tips that work — and cost nothing.

Tips for Healthier, Younger Looking Skin

1. Tanned skin looks good, and some sunshine is in fact healthy. But don’t overdo it!

Why is some sunshine good, but too much bad?

Sunlight is necessary for our bodies to produce Vitamin D, which is vital for good health; and almost no one gets enough Vitamin D from their diet. But sunburn, especially burning repeatedly, is very bad for the skin.

Too much sunshine is bad because of its effect on hyaluronic acid — a key substance in skin, whose function is tissue repair. When we get too much sun exposure, UVB rays in sunlight actually damage the cells of our skin, causing the skin to produce less and less hyaluronic acid over time.

In strong sunlight, wear a hat to shade your face. Don’t rely on too much sunscreen. Sunscreens contain chemicals that are actually not good for the skin.

2. Believe it or not, drinking plenty of water is an important anti aging skin care treatment. Most people don’t get enough pure water — clean, filtered water, not necessarily the stuff you pour from the tap. Drinking about 8 glasses of water a day will keep your body and your skin hydrated and looking good.

3. Any anti aging skin care guide must include a healthy diet. Specifically, a diet rich in dark green, leafy vegetables such as spinach, broccoli and romaine lettuce. Much skin aging is caused by free radicals — destructive molecules that can damage body cells, including skin cells, accounting for the skin effects we call “aging.” Antioxidant-rich dark leafy greens can help prevent free radical damage.

Those simple tips will help to ensure the health of your skin and maintain its youthfulness. You might also consider a high quality anti aging skin care treatment.

This is what the best skin care creams should do:

1. Help your body stimulate new collagen and elastin production. Collagen and elastin are two major components of skin responsible for youthful appearance. As we age, collagen and elastin break down and we produce less. There are specialized substances (Phytessence Wakame and Nanobelle Coenzyme Q10 are two examples) which can help the body boost its production of collagen and elastin.

Note: Collagen applied directly to the skin is useless — no matter how it’s hyped in some so-called anti aging skin care treatment creams. Collagen molecules are too large to penetrate into the skin — collagen must be manufactured by your body to be effective.

2. Hydrate your skin. This, of course, helps keep your skin soft and pliable. Dry, cracked skin isn’t just unsightly and uncomfortable — it’s aging fast, too.

3. Help smooth fine lines and wrinkles, and even out color inconsistency caused by blemishes such as age spots.

There’s much more to an exhaustive anti aging skin care guide, but, as promised, we’re keeping it simple. Just following these suggestions will achieve excellent results. And if you’re inclined, you can use this article as a launch pad for your own research.
